Since it's introduction in 1997, the AP Statistics Test has been the fastest growing AP test, tallying near 100,000 and 50% growth in the amount of test takers since 2005.  Success on this exam will yield an exemption from most freshman year non-calculus based introductory statistics courses. While all science and math majors will likely take advanced courses in statistics, nearly all social science and business students will be required to take introductory statistics.  Anyone taking either AP Calculus exam, would be well-served by preparing for AP Statistics. 1

The three hour exam is consists of two sections.  Section 1 consists of 40 questions with a 90 minute time limit.  Section 2 is the free-response section consisting of 6 problems.  Part A of Section 2 consists of 5 questions to be completed in 65 minutes.  Part B of Section 2 has lengthier investigative questions with a time limit of 25 minutes.  Each section counts as 50% of the student's grade.  Graphing calculators are permitted for use for the entire test.  1
